Marisol Barrios Perez, MSPA, APR, is an award-winning communications leader, educator, and changemaker with more than 25 years of experience in public relations, nonprofit strategy, fundraising, and social impact storytelling. On January 19, 2026, Marisol was appointed as the executive director of HEAR Center. She oversees all aspects of the clinic’s operations, including strategic planning, program operations, fundraising, communications, and financial oversight, with a collaborative, data-informed, trauma-informed, mission-driven approach
Through her company, Mission Driven PR, Inc., and her training platform, the Nonprofit PR Academy, Marisol has empowered nonprofit communications and development professionals to align messaging with mission—amplifying impact through her signature GRACE method, a five-step framework that helps organizations communicate with purpose and clarity.
An adjunct faculty member at California State University, Dominguez Hills, Marisol teaches undergraduate communication courses and mentors the next generation of professionals as PRSSA’s industry advisor. Under her leadership, organizations and campaigns have earned 10 public relations awards and two graphic design awards, with her work appearing in major metropolitan publications and on national Spanish-language television. As the former publisher of Latina Bride, she was recognized as a finalist for the Hispanic Business Entrepreneur of the Year award.
Marisol is a proud Latina, a daughter of Mexican immigrants, and a fierce advocate for inclusion, dignity, and voice. She serves on the boards of the Bloom Again Foundation and Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Los Angeles Chapter and is the chair of the PRSA Western District. Marisol also holds a membership in the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She earned a Master of Science in Public Administration from California State University, Los Angeles and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy at Loyola Marymount University. Marisol is also accredited in public relations (APR).
